M.T. Bearington’s sophomore LP Love Buttons (Safety Meeting Records) is a patchwork collection of love songs, though perhaps not in the conventional sense. Produced by Fuzzy Rainbow Production (Fake Babies, Eula) and Greg Giorgio (Interpol, The National), the 11 tracks contained herein spin tales of tender romances and twisted trysts, all told from the perspectives of real and fictional characters. Originally intended as a bedroom recording project, M.T. Bearington (aka Matt Thomas formerly of Weigh Down) eventually marched out of the boudoir after Thomas’ friend Jason Hammel (Mates of State) persuaded him to put together a live band to share a bill in 2008. Thus the Bearington Band was lovingly stitched together.
